Investigation of Thermal Characteristic, Surface Morphology, Mechanical Properties and Tribological Properties of Polyamide 11 Powder Coating

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mechanical and chemical characteristics polyamide coating by dipping in a fluidized bed system. For application steel test specimens were used. Test specimens, which sprayed with primer, cured an oven then coated bed. To properties abrasion resistance, scratch, salt spray hot oil resistance tests performed. Furthermore thermal DSC TGA analyses carried out. Molecular structure polymer primer analysed FTIR spectroscopy. Experimental results showed that consists nearly 50% percentage water, surface smoother than concerning investigations literature. Scratch above 40N. Up 1.5kg load there no crack on during falling weight test. Despite using additional 1kg wheels 5000 cycles fine performance. On coation surface, failure or deterioration observed after tests. In summary, powder coatings applied can be used harsh corrosive environments also is suitable for mechanic parts where strength necessary.
